"CARE has provided my children with a safe and stimulating environment, which is highly adapted for children with autism." – Palesa

Many parents find school placement for learners on the Autistic Spectrum a daunting task once the pre-school years have come to an end. We at C.A.R.E. realise the need for education and skills training beyond these early years. Thus, we are excited to announce that we have expanded to become a Centre of Focused Learning for learners up to age 12. The need for a non-academic curriculum for learners on the Spectrum is dire: currently South Africa has very few placements which cater to learners who do not fit into the traditional educational system. Therefore, C.A.R.E does not follow the traditional Grade-based system. Instead, the educational programme is skills-based and individualised to suit the learners’ specific needs.

C.A.R.E.’s Centre of Focused Learning provides a haven for learners who are not typically admitted to remedial placements. Therapy (Speech and Occupational) takes place onsite as well as Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA). Social Skills Training also forms a core part of our approach to older learners on the Spectrum. Extra mural activities are tailored to suit the developmental needs of our learners.
