Our holistic program blends academics with vocational and life skills training. We create a safe space where our learners build independence, life skills, friendships, and confidence to thrive beyond the classroom. Our multidisciplinary model integrates academics, therapy, life skills, and emotional regulation into a safe, predictable, and nurturing environment.

Our Senior School teaching team follows a specialised subject-based approach. Instead of one teacher handling all areas, each of our four educators focuses on their specific subject of expertise. This allows learners to benefit from deeper knowledge, varied teaching styles, and a well-rounded learning experience across all subjects.

C.A.R.E partnering with Rand-Aid Thembalami old age home

As part of our vocational training, C.A.R.E Vocational School has partnered with Rand-Aid (Thembalami) in Edenvale to provide job shadowing opportunities for our learners. This partnership allows students to gain real-world experience in a safe and supportive work environment. Rand-Aid staff work closely with our teachers, occupational therapists, and speech therapists to ensure each learner is guided and understood.

C.A.R.E Vocational School is a specialised learning environment dedicated to supporting teens and young adults on the autism spectrum. We cater to learners aged 10 to 18, offering an individualised intervention program designed to develop both work-based skills and independence.

Our approach combines the DCAPS curriculum with practical, hands-on learning and therapeutic strategies, ensuring that each learner’s unique needs, abilities, and learning style are supported. With a maximum of three adults per class, we provide a small, supportive, and highly structured environment where students receive the personalised attention they need to thrive.

Subjects include:
-English                            -Life Skills                  -Arts & Crafts
-Maths                              -Culinary Skills         -Agriculture
-Natural Science            -Hospitality               -Physical Education
-Computer Literacy

By combining academic learning, vocational training, and therapeutic support, we prepare our learners for meaningful participation in daily life and the workplace—empowering them with the confidence, skills, and independence they need for life beyond school.

AAC meets work based training

We also provide training to Rand-Aid staff members, equipping them with strategies and encouraging the use of AAC (Augmentative and Alternative Communication) to give clear, accessible instructions to our learners. Each learner is assigned specific tasks by department managers and is supported in completing them successfully. This collaboration not only builds work readiness but also fosters inclusion and understanding in the broader community.
